Grocery Deals for June 18th

19 Jun

I don’t usually post deals for groceries but this week there are some great local sales that I wanted to share with my local readers. Living in a small town with two smaller grocery stores, there aren’t often GREAT deals. There are usually good enough sales comparable to the big name stores, but every once in a while there will be some really great deals and those deserve mention to show we don’t always have to travel to the big name stores to get the best prices.

This week at our local Super A Foods there are a few:

Christie Crackers 3/6.98. While this isn’t a great deal on its own, there is also an instore coupon for Buy 3 boxes, get 1 Free. That works out to $1.75 a box.

Quaker Granola bars are on sale for 2/5.98. I only ever buy granolas when they are $2.00 a box.

Quaker Rice Cakes 5/$5.00. Thats $1.00 a bag. You can find that at the nearest Walmart once in awhile, but since that is an hour away, this is a great time to stock up on these.

Go out and stock up for summer!!!

That is some really good deals. Over all groceries are so expensive in Canada, so whenever a good deal happens it is important to stock up. We bought a lot of strawberries at Co-op today and we are even freezing some, which I’ve never taken the time to do before.

i froze strawberries a few weeks ago too! i usually stock up on blueberries near the end of the season as well. I would much rather have fresh fruit all year round though!

That is one downside to living in a smaller town. The decreased competition amongst stores keeps prices relatively high. Back when I was regular buying granola bars I think I was aiming for under $2/box.

It is frustrating when i see everyone who is couponing like crazy. When you live an hour away from the big stores you have to factor in gas to run around and go to each store for the deals. We have some pretty good deals here occassionally so we just have to be aware of our prices and stock up when we can. I would love to hear about a small town couponer making it work…hmmm…maybe that’s an idea!??
